About a week ago, I received dehydrated water kefir grains that I bought from Cultures for Health. I used to make raw milk kefir often in Colorado, but it just got out of hand and I wasn’t able to drink or use the kefir fast enough. Plus the grains multiplied faster than I could give them away. I enjoy kefir, though, so I decided to try water kefir this time around. Also, it seems to be a lot easier to maintain than kombucha.
By the way, kefir is pronounced keh-FEER not KEE-fer, but for some reason most people prounce it KEE-fer. Anyway, I use organic sugar cane and filtered water with a little trace mineral drops because that’s supposed to help the kefir grains. Read the rest of this entry »
