Well, it’s finally time for us to move after nine months in southeastern Arizona. We’re spending our last weekend cleaning, packing what we’ll take with us, and spending some time enjoying our final weekend here. The packers and movers come early next week and we’ll be staying at a hotel in Bisbee for a few days until we head out on our two day road trip to Augusta, Georgia.
I’ve been preparing food to pack in our cooler because I prefer not to eat fast food on the road. Let me just say that we definitely won’t be going hungry. I have a couple of meals, breakfast items, almond-coconut milk, fruits, vegetables, various snacks, water, etc. I also made the honey-whiskey cake with pumpkin seeds, pictured above. I got the inspiration for this on Smitten Kitchen.
Our things won’t arrive to Augusta for two weeks or so, which isn’t too bad, and we’ll have 10 days to look for a home to rent. So basically after this weekend, we’ll be hitting the ground running. At least that’s what it feels like while we’re moving.
In other news, I’m so happy that I had the opportunity to contribute to Edible Baja Arizona recently. I wish we could have been able to live here a little longer because I would love to continue freelancing with them. You can check out the digital version here, be sure to look through the entire September issue because it’s absolutely stunning.
