My Photo of the Day: Cantaloupe-Mint ‘Agua Fresca.’

30 Jul

The day is still young, but this was part of my breakfast. Melon season is finally upon us and I’m going to be making a variation of this with watermelon as well.

Blended ripe cantaloupe, a little water and lemon juice, and fresh mint leaves (sometimes I add ice). You can also strain this, but I like it thicker. It’s great that the bit of mint makes this even more refreshing.

Yum! I’m going to get some cantaloupe and make this.
In the summer I like to add mint to almost everything. It makes everything a little cooler and more refreshing. (A friend of mine gave me a hummus recipe that called for parsley, but I didn’t have any, and now “lemon-mint” hummus is my new favorite summer flavor.)

Mmm…refreshing. Speaking of melons…I recently had bubble tea shakes or whatever they’re called at that Vietnamese shopping center. We ordered honeydew and avocado at a fairly new place. Surprisingly they use fresh ingredients…real honeydew with pulp…and real creamy avocado…shocking!!! I don’t know if the other ingredients are artificial, but the avocado was my favorite!
